There is no question that Honey is the Queen B of the beauty world. If you take a quick look at your local pharmacy, you will notice beauty products varying from shampoo to lip balms containing it as an ingredient. It makes a lot of sense since honey is a superfood with natural healing properties.
But not all honey is equal! As with most natural ingredients, the more processed it is, the less effective it is. Therefore, in order to reap the most benefits, you need to use raw honey.
Here you have 5 ways to incorporate honey in your beauty routine. While it might sound a little sticky, believe us it is SO worth it!
1. MAKE A HONEY MOISTURIZING FACE MASK
The sugars in the honey act as natural humectants hydrating the skin while its natural antioxidants will give it a beautiful glow.
* For a fast mask, you can spread 1tbsp of raw honey on freshly washed and dry face. Let it sit for 20 minutes and wash it with warm water.
** For a deeper treatment mix 1 tbsp of raw honey, with a 1/3 of a banana and 2-3 drops of lemon. Apply it on clean skin, leave it for 20 minutes and then wash it with warm water. Now, look at that sweet glow!
2. USE IT AS A NATURAL GENTLE EXFOLIATOR
The enzymes present in raw honey make it a great gentle exfoliator. You can rub it on your entire body by itself or you can mix 2 parts honey and one part baking soda. Your skin will thank you!
3. TAKE A LUXURIOUS HONEY BATH
Treat yourself like a queen, just like Cleopatra used to. Mix 1/4 cup of honey with 2 cups of milk and 5-8 drops of essential oil. Put some relaxing music, burn a candle and enjoy!
4. MAKE YOUR OWN HONEY INFUSED HAIR MASK
Honey is a natural softener that will keep your hair looking smooth and healthy.
Mix 1 tbsp honey with 2 tbsp raw coconut oil (we love this one). You can add just a bit of hot water to make them more liquid and easier to spread on the hair. Apply from tips to the roots. Leave it on for 20 min and rinse it with warm water and shampoo. There you have it, shiny hair!
5. DRY & CHAPPED LIPS TREATMENT
As we have mentioned above, honey is a great exfoliator and moisturizer. This makes it a great lip treatment.
If your lips are a bit chapped, mix in 1/2 tsp sugar with 1/2 tsp honey. Rub it on your lips with your finger for about 30 seconds and let it sit for 15 min. Here you have it; a delicious and effective lip exfoliating!
